Meilisearch for your Laravel app, with Scout
Fast, typo-tolerant search for your Laravel app: Meilisearch with Laravel Scout, created by your coding agent or the terminal.
Ask your agent
Create a Meilisearch server on Rowsafe Cloud for search in this Laravel app with Scout.Your agent picks a size, tells you the price and waits for your yes, then creates the server as you. Once it's ready (5 to 10 minutes), click Create index and key on its page in the dashboard: you see the connection details once, for your .env.
First time? Connect Rowsafe to your agent once.
Or from the terminal
rowsafe cloud create search --engine meilisearch --wait
rowsafe db create posts --on searchrowsafe cloud create shows the price and asks first. rowsafe db create makes the index and an API key for it, and shows the key once. Name the index after your model's table (posts for Post); its URL is your MEILISEARCH_HOST.
Connect your app
SCOUT_DRIVER=meilisearch
MEILISEARCH_HOST=https://x7kq2mfa3pzd.cloud.rowsafe.sh:7700
MEILISEARCH_KEY=your-api-keyuse Laravel\Scout\Searchable;
class Post extends Model
{
use Searchable;
}composer require laravel/scout meilisearch/meilisearch-php http-interop/http-factory-guzzle. HTTPS checks the server's certificate by default. Then php artisan scout:import "App\Models\Post" and Post::search('shoes')->get().
Backups and restores
Rowsafe snapshots your Meilisearch every 15 minutes and at every Mark, encrypted on the server with a key only you have. A restore goes back to one of them. Every week it restores a backup to prove it works. Restore a copy, bring back deleted documents or rewind the whole database, in one click. Before a risky change, save a Mark (rowsafe mark), or let your agent save one.
From $0.014 an hour, never more than $10 a month.
Questions
Can I restore to any second?
No. Backups are Meilisearch's own snapshots, every 15 minutes when something changed and at every Mark. A restore goes back to one of them.
Can browsers search directly?
Yes, with a read-only key on the index from Databases & users. Never give browsers the key your backend uses.
How does my app's server connect?
At first only your computer can. Add your server's address under Who can connect on the server's page, or run rowsafe cloud allow search ADDRESS.
