Managed MariaDB for your WordPress site
Give WordPress a managed MariaDB that's backed up to any second, while your site stays on your web host.
Ask your agent
Create a MariaDB database for this WordPress site on Rowsafe Cloud.Your agent picks a size, tells you the price and waits for your yes, then creates the server as you. Once it's ready (5 to 10 minutes), click Create database and user on its page in the dashboard: you see the connection details once, for your .env.
First time? Connect Rowsafe to your agent once.
Or from the terminal
rowsafe cloud create blog-db --engine mariadb --wait
rowsafe db create wordpress --on blog-dbrowsafe cloud create shows the price and asks first. rowsafe db create makes the database and its own user, and prints the password once: Rowsafe can't show it again.
Connect your app
define( 'DB_NAME', 'wordpress' );
define( 'DB_USER', 'wordpress' );
define( 'DB_PASSWORD', 'the-password' );
define( 'DB_HOST', 'x7kq2mfa3pzd.cloud.rowsafe.sh:3306' );
// Encrypt the connection and check the server's certificate.
define( 'MYSQL_CLIENT_FLAGS', MYSQLI_CLIENT_SSL | MYSQLI_CLIENT_SSL_VERIFY_SERVER_CERT );The host is your server's name, on its page and in rowsafe cloud show blog-db. Put these lines above “That's all, stop editing!”.
Backups and restores
Rowsafe backs up every change, encrypted on the server with a key only you have, so you can restore to any second. Every week it restores a backup to prove it works. Restore a copy, bring back deleted rows or rewind the whole database, in one click. Before a risky change, save a Mark (rowsafe mark), or let your agent save one.
From $0.014 an hour, never more than $10 a month.
Questions
How does my app's server connect?
At first only your computer can. Add your server's address under Who can connect on the server's page, or run rowsafe cloud allow blog-db ADDRESS.
Where do my uploads and themes go?
They stay on your web host. Rowsafe runs only the database, so keep backing up wp-content with your host or a plugin.
MySQL or MariaDB?
WordPress works with both. MariaDB 11.8 runs on every cloud; MySQL 8.4 is there too, with --engine mysql.
